The idea of proposed solution is called Robotic Environment Monitoring System(REMS)
based on Acoustic Source Localization - which detect when animals are near
roadways using sound information and trigger warning lights and capture the picture
when roadkill is occurred - can enable automatically monitoring and roadkill
preventing. The objective of proposed device is analyze the direction of acoustic
source to obtain the animal location to monitoring and preventing roadkill. Stored data
can be accessed via website which uses Virtual Earth and Silverlight to visualize the
data and user interfaces respectively. Our prototype is a intelligent sensor for
monitoring and preventing the roadkill based on acoustic source localization.
Overall system architecture of our prototype is depicted in Figure. 1.
