We're Team Provisio
from Michigan. As biological science majors, it seemed only fit to
enter into the Imagine Cup competition again this year with the topic
in our field of study. Last year, our Short Film team placed in the Top
20 (semi-finalists) with our perspective on foster care education. This
year, with two of the former four competing again, we're excited to
share with you our thoughts (and images) on technology and
environmental sustainability.
About Our Entry As veterans to the Imagine Cup competition,
we understand the level of ingenuity necessary to produce a great
presentation. You'll notice we took a futuristic approach because we
believe that the ability to create and imagine something is what keeps innovation
and technology alive. We're big dreamers, but we also know the course of technology and the future of science. Hence, our team name is derived from the Latin
word for "foresight". The biggest thing we focused on for Viewer's
Choice (US Challenge) was to put ourselves in the future of our
planet and scientific/technological efforts to continue to sustain the
environment. Sustainability is different from conservation.
Conservation is a opportunity to ration or save current resources.
Sustainability implies allocating and moving around resources to
prolong the quality of the earth's life. We'd like to think that it's
an active process, and therefore, we reflected that in our photo essay.
Our photo essay presents a collection of technology and a
near-future perspective on environmental sustainability for tropical
ecosystems in the year 2015:"Proceeding the recent 2015 Global
Conservation Watch Convention in 'Alternative Energy Technologies
Capital' Detroit, Michigan, the Institute for International Tropical
Sustainability (IITS) released their update report on their
Preservation of Tropical Systems Initiative."
Thanks for your support and for your vote: Team Provisio for the US Viewer's
Choice Award!
