Nowadays, the car is one of the most used means
of transportation and also one of the most polluting one, by releasing
a big amount of CO2, a very dangerous greenhouse
gas. PickMeUp is a solution that helps reducing the number of cars on
the roads by dealing with real-time car sharing. PickMeUp, helps the
users know at any moment of the day, which cars are not far distant
from their current position and also going to (almost or exactly) the
same destination. PickMeUp, deals with geographic localisation systems
(as GPS) and GIS (Geographic Information Services).
Two ways of using PickMeUp are possible, with a Pocket Pc or with just a GSM cellphone.
Additional features are provided with PickMeUp that
helps the rider optimise his researches and find out more accurate
results.
Finally, desktop application as well as a facebook one are
developed to allow users keep in touch with their social network.
