Synopsis:

A narrator sits in front of a roaring fire and begins to tell the wonderful story of Mr Snowpenny...

Mr and Mrs Snowpenny lived on a farm in the countryside. It had always been their dream to make and sell ice cream. So one day, they made a batch of ice-cream and Mr Snowpenny set off to the nearby village to sell it. Unfortunately on that hot summer’s day the ice-cream melted before he could get it to the customers. No-one would buy the melted ice-cream. This happened every day!

Mr Snowpenny was devastated. The problem was that he wasn’t getting to the village fast enough. The ice-cream always melted before he got there. He realised that he needed to improve the speed of his bicycle. First he tried a slingshot, but this just threw him into a hedge! Next he tied rockets onto his bicycle but these just blew up in his face!

Mr Snowpenny didn’t know what to do. He sat in his kitchen and thought and thought until the sun went down. As he turned on the light, inspiration struck him. He had an idea! He rushed to his shed and started working immediately. He finally emerged in the morning light, ready to deliver his ice-cream. But what had he invented?

He delivers the ice-cream with perfect ease, serving one satisfied customer after another. So how did he do it? Well Mr Snowpenny had turned his bicycle into a teleporter! This allowed him to get from A to B instantly! So Mr and Mrs Snowpenny finally fulfilled their dream of making and selling delicious ice-cream.

The narrator closes the storybook... “But the story doesn’t end there” he says...

Mr Snowpenny’s invention helped people all over the world. Farmers used it to transport their crops to people all over the world. World hunger was ended as aid workers could much more easily transport food to the hungry. And best of all people stopped using cars and aeroplanes. This meant less fossil fuel was used, which was hurting the environment. Families all over the world started to use the bicycles which were only powered by a little leg work.

So that is the story of how one man and his bicycle changed the world...

Question: Challenges: What personal or technological challenges did your team face while developing your submission?
Answer: The animation took us a lot longer than we realised. None of us had any real experience of doing this before and so we had to learn on the job!
