Design for Development Award
This award challenges you to help solve one of the eight United Nations Millennium Development Goals by creating a software solution designed to meet the needs of end-users who earn less than $8 USD a day.
To be eligible, your team will need to conduct user-research in underserved communities, and then use your findings to design a relevant software solution that can also be accessed from a basic mobile phone (i.e. phones with only voice and SMS capabilities).

MultiPoint Education Award
This award challenges you to unlock new ways for the PC to help address universal education goals. To be eligible, your team must develop a learning application for children ages 5 to 14 using the Multipoint SDK.
With the MultiPoint SDK - a technology that enables several mice to be connected and used on the same PC – your team will be able to design an engaging application that allow multiple children to learn, interact, and collaborate on a single computer at the same time.
