Our Story

Imagine Cup 2009 was an amazing journey for team PEARL. From the outset, our mentor helped us ask some very fundamental questions and ground our perceptions through rural visits. We're a team of medical and engineering students; we believe the world's toughest challenges can be addressed best by well-rounded teams that can bring different perspectives to the table. PEARL is an acronym for Proactive Emergency Alerting and Response Loop. The concept was so well received that Pronexus, the company behind VBVoice - an integral cog in our solution, agreed to extend the software to us free of cost! We're looking forward to running a pilot soon. Sameet and Noel have been through the Imagine Cup experience before, winning the Interoperability Award at Imagine Cup 2008.

Our Story

We are friends from one school. Our story started when Ahmed and Mohamed met in June 2008 and decided to make their own game. Ahmed loves writing and drawing. He is always drawing many characters that he wants to see come alive. Mohamed has the passion to build his own game. Gina joined us because she also loves drawing. We invited Khalid in August 2009. When Imagine Cup 2007 started Khalid joined Software Development as he loves computers but he had no idea about how to program so he decided to learn a programming language and picked C#. When Khalid joined us he faced a problem to help us using the platform we chose before. he then recognized that Microsoft offers an easy platform "GDK." While he was visiting the page of GDK he found that Microsoft offers a new platform XNA with C# that target Xbox360 we then started to build our game using XNA. For our good luck, we found that the Imagine Cup 2009 Game Development competition rules allowed us to use XNA which gave us experience and self-confidence that we sure were on the right road.

Our Story

Two of us participated in the Imagine Cup 2008 with good results. We then decided to make a new team with the best students at our school. We gained a lot of experience from participating in the Imagine Cup. As a designer I gained real experience from writing the design and developing this through a long period. At school you never get this kind of experience, so I strongly recommend every student participate in Imagine Cup and gain this real experience. The programmers have learned more than they ever would as normal students and they both have a part-time job as a result from their Imagine Cup entry.

Our Story

We decided to participate in the Imagine Cup back in August of 2008. We met to talk and discuss the experience that each of us had. This discussion guided us to participate in the Game Development competition category. It took us 2 months to decide on one idea. It was at an annual exhibition of books, where the theme of education and problems of the world united and emerged in to the concept that we presented at the Imagine Cup 2009 Worldwide Finals contest. In either case we took a picture (right), where it looks like we agreed to participate on the idea and what we wanted to achieve with our project!
